A New Year, A New President
I wanted to write and thank you once again for your tireless support and your thoughtful words of encouragement in the months both leading up to, and following last November's historic election.
We have accomplished so much together, and many have asked if I will run again. While I have not made any decisions regarding 2010 or beyond , Jan and I remain ever mindful of why we began this journey nearly four years ago, and steadfast in our dedication to help solve the tremendous challenges confronting the community and country we love.
And like you, just a little over a week ago, we were both proud and inspired to begin the next great chapter in America's story with the inauguration of our 44 th President, Barack Obama.
President Obama enters office at a critical time for our nation---with a deepening economic crisis, two wars, and old problems ranging from energy to healthcare in desperate need of solutions.
President Obama has hit the ground running, and in doing so, has called for us to join him in renewing our nation's highest ideals ---a culture of service across America, shared responsibility for the betterment of our communities, and real accountability in government.
And from local schools to local charities, and from City Council Chambers to the halls of Congress, we know that change isn't just something to believe in-it's a calling that demands action from every single one of us, every day.
So together, we can and must stay informed, hold our representatives accountable for the change we demanded in November at every level of government, and perhaps most importantly, to be involved in all matters of community service.
In the weeks and months to come, you can count on me to stay in touch, to speak out on the issues we face, to ask for your help in advancing the causes the have been such an important part of our efforts to create lasting change in District 4 and across America, and to work with you in mobilizing legions of new people to get involved---and stay involved.
Thank you again for your continued support.
Charlie Brown, Lt. Col. USAF Ret.
P.S. From our family to yours, here's wishing you a safe, prosperous and happy 2009.
