We're off and Running
It's official. I'm running for Congress and I'm running to win.
To ensure we complete our mission in November 2008, I know that we need to start now, and we need to start strong. That's why we've set an early fundraising goal of $125,000 by September 30th, and why I am asking for your help today.
Charlie's Challenge: 40 House Parties by September 30th
As you know, the 2006 election was decided by just 9,000 votes. If everyone who has supported Charlie in the past can encourage ten, twenty, or thirty people to do the same, there will be no stopping us in the next election.
One way to do that is by hosting a house party.
This week, as we celebrate America's independence with friends and family, I want to thank you once again for everything you have done to support our campaign, and your incredible efforts to serve and support our neighbors in need here in the 4th CD.
Last week, your tremendous generosity yielded $1915 for the Sacramento-Sierra American Red Cross' efforts to aid those displaced by last week's Angora Wildfire in South Lake Tahoe.
THANK YOU to everyone who answered the call and helped to spread the word!
Help our Friends in Lake Tahoe
As you know, the upcoming June 30th FEC deadline is a very important benchmark for our campaign. But it pales in comparison to what's happening right now in Lake Tahoe, where thousands of our neighbors are facing a devastating wildfire.
That's why between now and the FEC deadline of midnight on June 30th, we will be donating 15% of all contributions made through our online ActBlue page to the Sacramento- Sierra Red Cross--to help area residents who have been affected by this horrible tragedy.
Help Me Keep My Promise
Across America, more and more people are talking about our near miss in 2006, an incumbent who continues to drown in scandal and the growing number of his longtime supporters who are considering a 2008 primary challenge.
The Smear Machine is at it again
If the last six years has taught us anything, it's that our country would be better off if our elected officials spent as much time and energy doing their jobs, as they spend trying to keep their jobs.
Wow! What a difference a few weeks makes.
First, thanks to you, we won Democracy for America's Grassroots All-Star competition. Our first national endorsement has given a tremendous boost to our campaign, and I want to thank everyone who voted, blogged, e-mailed and called their friends to carry us to victory. Your commitment to real change and responsible leadership has created undeniable momentum-and we've only just begun.
Charlie's Challenge - Thank You!
Thanks to all of you, we reached our end of the first quarter Charlie’s Challenge goal!
Together, we’ve created undeniable momentum, sent a strong message to the pundits both inside and outside of Washington, and provided crucial early resources to help renew our battle to reclaim the 4th District.
Charlie's Challenge - No Veteran Left Behind!
As many of you know, it was the abject failure of Washington politicians to competently address America’s security needs and keep faith with to those who serve in our armed forces that drove me, and more than 70 fellow veterans, to run for Congress in 2006.
In the wake of the Walter Reed scandal, it is the continuing pattern of neglect that leads me to believe that many of us will be back in 2008.
Last week, many 4th CD constituents were notified via taxpayer funded mail that Congressman Doolittle will be holding a series of “listening sessions” across the district this week.
Unfortunately, full details about the meetings have not been disclosed on the Congressman’s website. In the interest of making sure everyone has the chance to participate and make their views known, we have pasted the dates, times, and locations of each remaining event below.
